Baby Blue Is not the Color of the Season, but I Like It

Colors are not just colors. They have the ability to change our mood, to inspire sensations, enhance features and flatter us. Colors exist in more than a 1,000 shades, from dark to light, from vivid to opaque, each one with its unique charm. Each color represents different qualities, peculiar characteristics endowed with a personality that manifests itself in all forms of life, and of course, of fashion.

Every season (and mid-seasons), designers present us their proposals for what we should wear. Silhouettes, materials, textures and of course colors, represent the mood of a collection, and a season. Right now we have the 70´s trend all over the stores. Denim, suede, flared jeans, button-front skirts, bohemian dresses are some of the elements of this strong trend.

The colors of this trend, “the colors of the season”, are yellow, terracotta, earthy colors that remind us of nature. But, what happens if you don´t like this colors? As simple as not using them. Trends set the tone of fashion, they represent the silhouettes, materials, textures that are considered contemporary, but remember there is always more than one trend per season. Have you heard of the gingham print? Or fringe?

As Coco Chanel once said, “The best color in the whole world, is the one that looks good on you.”

Trends guide the course of fashion in an epoque, but not following them is not a synonym that you don´t love fashion as much as those who follow trends religiously. And the same happens with colors. As Coco Chanel once said, “The best color in the whole world is the one that looks good on you”, and I couldn´t agree more. By knowing your undertones, you can iddentify which colors flatter you, and which don´t.

My undertone makes blue-ish colors suit me well, and of course baby blue is part of them. I have wanted to use this color from quite some time, and I finally found a piece in this color. The pastel colors will be on trend for the next fall/winter season, but I am sure you can find a piece in this color although the stores are all full with yellow and orange garments. Trends are a guide and an inspiration, but if you don´t like what you see, don´t hesitate to leave the mold and dress what you like, because this is the way you will always look your best.

    1. Thank you!! I am glad you liked it and that you agreed with my point of view. I think we should all like what we are wearing instead of just following trends without doubt 😉
